Amelia Stemm DeLano

Wife of Honorable Milton DeLano, the sixth Mayor of Denver. First Lady of Denver from 1866-1868. 

Her Story

Personal

Mrs. DeLano was born in New York in 1830. She was the daughter of a French count who had fled to the States during the French Revolution. Her place of death and the date of her passing are unknown. Her place of burial is also unknown.

Family

The DeLanos were married in 1851, when she was just twenty-one.

Of Note

Mrs. DeLano was a distant relative of General Ulysses S. Grant who made the DeLano house headquarters during a visit to the Rockies during the DeLano Mayoral term. President Ulysses S. Grant again returned to the DeLano residence several years later.
