Corwina Rouse Mills

Wife of Honorable William Fitz Randolph Mills, the thirty-first Mayor of Denver. First Lady of Denver from 1918-1919. 

Her Story

Personal

Corina was born in New York in January 1860 and died in Denver, Colorado on November 1, 1920 (Age 60). She now peacefully resides at Riverside Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.

Family

Mayor Mills and Mrs. Mills were married on January 25, 1881, in New York. They had eight children together.  The Mills family moved to Denver in 1889 and resided at 1253 Race Street. The family was involved in several charitable efforts including the Community Chest, Federated Charities, and the Rotary Club.

Of Note

Mrs. Mills was also known for supporting the continuing efforts of Mayor Mills as he sought to honor the legacy of Mayor Speer, whom he succeeded after Mayor Speer’s untimely passing. Mrs. Mills passed away shortly after the end of the Mayoral term of Mayor Mills.
